The key is that an agent representing a buyer on a short sale should only represent the owner occupied buyer- no investors. I was a buyer's agent for an owner occupied home and we did buy a short sale through World Savings and yes I earned the commission. I am dealing with this lack of knowledge at this point on a listing of mine. I will take her advice and get CAR legal to give me the exact response to these would be agents. Best of luck!
