I am sure you may have already purchased a new home, since it has been a few months since your posting, but I just read it and thought I may give you some of my experiences.
My wife and I purchased a new home from Gemcraft last February in the Cecil County, Maryland area. Everything has gone well post settlement. The only thing I will warn you about is that Gemcraft will return to your new home and fix anything that is wrong with it for a period of one year from the date of settlement. They have done this for my house and I have been some what satisfied. If the problem is a small task for them to correct they will come right out and fix it. If the problem is of a larger task....this is where you will have problems with Gemcraft returning to your residence and fixing the problem. I have reported one major problem and one smaller problem and they will not return to my residence to correct the problem. After reporting the problem several times, they have now basicly refused to come and fix it. I have also sent a personel email to the owner Bill Luther and he has not yet returned a response to me. So, buyer beware. Hope this little bit of information helps you if you have not yet purchased a new home. Good luck SOLSURFR.
