A tag used to describe a graphic, photo or image. It is important because search engines can’t tell one picture from another. Using alt attribute text allows you to help screen readers and search engines understand the function of an image by providing a text equivalent for the object. In addition, there are special web browsers for the visually impaired who can rely on the alt text to make the content of graphics accessible for their users.
