I never set out to optimise for yahoo but I rank No. 1 for my key term. The only thing that I think got me there was a lot of key word links through article submission about 1000. Oh I should probably mention my domain name is keyword stuffed, I'm sure that helped!

Yahoo is hard to rank on. It definitely takes longer than Google. While Google holds relevant high PR inbound links over everything else, Yahoo seems to value Page Titles, URLS, and page content a little more. Focus on your keywords and incorporate them in those places and you'll eventually see results.

^ Yup, I think they are mostly about content, I hit #2 for city/state ahead of yahoo themselves with no backlinks to my site at all & a new domain, just content only. Hit #10 for city real estate right ahead of active rain & just behind the big dogs.

I have had good success at Yahoo and traffic does indeed follow. I know Google is #1 but you're missing out if you don't account for Yahoo.

I can only offer what I've found. For "City State Real Estate" I rank better at Yahoo traditionally at #1 (#2 right now)and at Google at #3. The numbers of visitors, pages viewed and time on the site suggest they are approximately equivalent. Yahoo #1 vs Google #3.

Google #1 is on the horizon....

One thing that always helps with yahoo, is a link in the yahoo directory. It's €299 but it definitely helps with yahoo traffic
