Thanks TwoMoores, I always appreciate getting feedback on my site, I'm glad you liked it. (Admittedly, I'd be even more glad if you liked it enough to try it. ) The boxes on my home page also came from CSSplay. They've got some really cool stuff on there I didn't even know was possible, sometimes it's tempting to come up with an excuse just to try it out on a page somewhere for fun.

I agree with above...it is what I call bread crumbs, you need to let people know where they are and where they can go from one point to the other..if that makes sense

I don't think I want to list the cities all the way down the side of the page although most of the websites that do it this way get very good results in the search engines. sellmeflorida.com has the cities running down the side of his page and gets good results. michaelsaunders.com//AreaInfo/Neighborhoods/AreaID/52.aspx also gets really good SE results.

I would rather have a drop down menu but there must be a reason why both websites have the cities running down the side of the page. My guess is SEO.

Bigtoe, will the spiders take a while to get the community pages because they are deeper than the front page? It's seems as though they might get indexed quicker if they were somehow on the front page??
http://www.sellmeflorida.com is a horrible site, don't copy them. In fact, real estate and websites really don't mix at all. I would say you should just stick to print ads. Haha!

For those that don't know...sellmeflorida is my site and TwoMoores are my competitors! So yes I'm attempting humor here! haha

Roxanne & Shannon,

Your site does not render properly in Firefox. The quick search in the left side frame does not display properly, and is unusable. I would get that fixed.

My site's menu for community searches is organized geographically, with a drop down list of communities for each geographic area. REW's sub-menu structure supports this very well.

Ronnie-Thanks for the heads up on the search box. I just emailed the webmaster to look into the problem.

Jason-Too funny! Yea, I think you have Google pretty much sewed up. I'm thinkin' there's not any chance for me there. Come on play nicely. Do you really have to rank #1 for everything?

My fear with anything that isn't seen without hovering is that it will be missed.

Just for this alone I would find a way to steer, direct, educate, to let the viewer know how to navigate the pages.

I agree - breaking down areas into separate pages seems to be the better way to go.

btw ~ I sell in OneMoore! .

There's nothing wrong with having most of your area pages one click deep, especially if you have a hundred of them and the majority aren't competitive.

If you do organize them into a few categories, with a lot of sub-areas being one click deep, and one of the subs is a competitive area, you can just find a reason to link to it from the body of the home page. You can have a "featured areas" section which is independent of the parent/sub organization that geography dictated for your main navigation.
