Default Conversion site rew to rew wide questions...

Hello all,

We are about to go live with a new REW wide site and cms 2.0 and I'm wondering a few things (actually I'm paranoid as heck about it).

Here's the issue:

We've finally reached #1 for our primary kw's and I do not want to lose the spot due to the new site.

So, does anyone have any experience changing their REW site over to a new REW template and/or cms 2.0?

I won't be changing any content at all for awhile.

Were there any issues I need to be aware of that I will have to jump on quickly?
Did your serp change?
Contacts change?
Traffic change?

I know I'm paranoid but it has taken a long time to get the site where it is and I don't want to jeopardize our standings.

As always, positive comments are always welcome and thanks in advance.

As long as your content is the same you wont have a problem, i went from a non rew site to a rew site and didnt drop a bit.

No negatives when I did the same thing. I didn't change graphics file names or content at all for the switch, just implemented a wider branding graphic with the same name and alt text. Post-conversion, I added a bit more home page text and graphics than before, and the wider template also allowed me to eliminate the "wide hack" IDX IFramed pages, since I didn't have REW IDX at the time, which then puts all navigation back on those pages, and that can only be a good thing!

I think if you keep all the file names the same everything will be ok.

I had responded via email as well - but in my professional opinion, if you are only changing the template (Graphics, some source code modifications, widths etc) and not any content, filenames etc then there is absolutely zero reason you should see a change in rankings to the positive or the negative going from one REW template to another.

With respect to going from CMS 1 to CMS 2, that is server side anyways, so it is impossible to effect anything from a google perspective

Btw - there IS such a thing as bad timing - you may drop in the rankings right after the switch and think it is the change over, however it is not the case - it could be that your rankings were about to change due to Google algo changes, etc and whether you did not change or change, this natural occurence would have happened any ways - that is always a hard one for us to deal with when it happens (VERY RARELY) trying to explain to customers that their rankings change (Positive or negative) was not caused by changing from one REW site to another. <<< Standard cover my ass post

Google did an awesome blog post of how they would like webmasters to "move" sites.
