I am not familiar with all of the PR sites listing, but I know that PRWeb is an authority when it comes to press releases.

You took the question out of my mouth. I have seen some Press releases that have high PR (page rank) and some that have none. Does anyone know if that is determined by the PR of the company doing the press release?

Is PRWEB free to just register and submit a press release? Is there a trick or anything real important to submitting a press release? I was thinking of doing it for a brand new website. Is there anything in particular I should know. I always hear people say a press release is great if it's done right. What needs to be done "right" ? I thought it was just similar to writing a blog.

It needs to be news worthy. Announcing a new website for your business would be newsworthy. There are free submissions, but to get a hotlink to your site there is a charge. Worked pretty good for me two times. Here is one of them - http://www.emediawire.com/releases/2.../emw494234.htm . Searching "prweb + mydomain" gives over 700 results.
