I'm sure some us out there have a business or knows someone in another business that has just created a new website and I was wondering what is out there in terms of good blog sites like REW and Active Rain that is good for websites that are not real estate related?

If I wanted to write a blog about an attorney website for example and wanted the blog to get indexed quickly like it does on REW and Active Rain, which blog site would I use? JUst looking for sites to help with SEO on a site that isn't real estate related? Or maybe a forum similar to this but for other professions.

I'm looking for a place to blog like we do on REW or Active Rain but for other topics other than real estate. For example my wife is an attorney, and she wants to blog somewhere on a site that will get blog indexed within a day or two like a person can do on real estate with REW and Active Rain, I was wondering if there was such a site out there?

Why not have that person start a stand alone wordpress blog. I would think that there are a lot of industries where competition to be found on the internet is not that strong. It seems like consistent blogging and perhaps linking with other local blogs would be a good start.

Wordpress blogs are very SEO friendly... you can host them for free at a subdomain of wordpress.com like myblog. wordpress.com or you can pay them to host your own domain like mydomain.com

If you want to be able to use lots of plugins and customize your blog extensively then you will want to pay to host them at a host other than wordpress.com because wordpress.com doesn't let you use plugins, but the major drawback of that is that they are constantly upgrading the software and wordpress is not the simplest program to update.

It is definitely worth the money to have it hosted and pointing to your own domain. The name of your url can affect rankings and branding. For the couple dollars a month it can not be beat.

The ability to add free plugins also make it necessary to host it yourself. There are great plugins to add sitemaps, better seo, and additional items like Googlw maps. If you can get through the learning curve WP is an invaluable tool.

I think Wordpress sites are the best to use not only for blogs but static sites as well, because you can change over from one to the other very easily if you ever want to, and they are very SEO friendly and relatively easy to use.
