Does Google penalize you for these directories? They dont have any real content, just a bunch of links.

I used Reals before I found these forums and really learned much about SEO. Since then I have opted not to renew with them. I did not see much of a benefit to their lists especially for the cost.

I have tried Reals. It's not worth the $99. Just not enough return for your money. I got a few not not $99 worth.
