I just wanted to let everyone know that I successfully started a self hosted blog using bluehost(thanks for the tips) and they are great. 24 hour support and I needed it! Be careful with bluehost. They don't monitor their servers so hackers can roam around injecting iframes into unsuspecting sites. If your site gets hacked and the search engines find out your site is infected your site will disappear from the radar.

I just went through dealing with a hacker on a site that I maintain. I have removed all the iframes, viruses and random code but G! has a note on our site "This site may be harmful..." not sure how long it is going to take to get that warming off.

Is there any way I can stop that from happening? How do I tell if it has been hacked? Is there a antivirus for websites?

The WordPress permissions are pretty much set out of the box to be good and secure.
But I'd make sure you have very good (i.e. complex) passwords for your ftp, control panel, wordpress login, etc.

You should be OK.

As far as Bluehost, I've heard good and bad. I've heard good and bad about everyone really. But they are in the upper ranks of name recognition and you should be fine.

Where would one go to verify what you have claimed here??? I have used Bluehost for years and never had a problem.

WP highly recommends Bluehost and I wouldn't think if what you said was true, that they would give such a big thumbs up to them.
