I've seen a SEO consultant with a twitter pr of 5 posting tweets w/ direct links to a client's home page. When I saw it I thought that there must be some SEO benefit.

Today I came across this blog posting http://battellemedia.com/archives/004858.php#comments.

This response confirmed my suspicions

I've never thought of that either because they nofollow all of their links, but I just checked & I'm a meager PR3.

Twitter is probably help in boosting page rank the more people follows your tweet the more your website gets visible to clients and people on the same niche.
