Default keywords dilution?

Hi,

I ask a seo company to optimize my website about 6 months ago.
in the title tag of my homepage they write about 10 keywords. they are all relevant to my website but 4 of them are very important.
Do you think i should reduce the title tag to these 4 keywords?
other keywords may be used in other more specific pages.

do you think a single keywords in title tag is good for specific pages? ex: pool villa for sale.

regards,

Eric

It doesn't seam like title is very important. Some say less than 1%. One one knows for sure what the right answer is. But look at the SEO "experts" trulia. See how their pages are titled.

I have to disagree that Title Tags aren't important. They are very important (for on-page SEO). However on-page SEO is only a tiny part of the equation.

I will say that rather than "Stuffing" your title with just the right keywords, your Title Tag should read naturally, and should have a call to action if at all possible. Your Title Tag & Meta Description are often what show up in the SERPS, so more important than just filling them with keywords is to make sure it makes sense and compells the person searching for that phrase -- to want to click through to your site.

Trulia can get away with using such title tags as they are a website of immense authority.

Title tags are very important until you get anywhere close to being an authority such as that. The keywords you use for your title should be researched in detail and correspond to your content for that particular page.

Title tags are VERY important, and modifying your title tags will almost certainly cause you to be re-indexed for the terms you are targeting. Also, too spammy of title tags can get you sandboxed.

Keep it below 65 characters. I try to use as close to the full 65 as I can.

Do the 10 keyword relate to eachother? This is your title tag. Title tags should be:

Seattle Homes for Sale - Incolo (Shameless plug =)

If it's like

Seattle Homes for Sale, Kirkland, Issaquah, Foreclosures...

That's just stuffing it. Title tags are important for PEOPLE. Forget the bot for now. Long enough to be understandable, short enough to be snapshot judgement, and NOT STUFFED FULL OF BOT LOVE i.e. crap.

When you're typing the title of a thread. How do you type it? You don't stuff it full of keywords. You make it easy for humans to understand and help you with your question. The same should be done for title tags of any page or piece of content.
