Losing clients to other Realtors really hurts. It happens to all of us but it is painful. This year has been my best year production wise but it's been also the year I've lost the most clients to other agents. With the volume comes the lack of follow up and with that, well, some people just leave you for someone else. The beginning of the year was very bad for me as I lost 3 clients totaling over 500k in sales volume. That was a wakeup call for me but still lost at least 3 or 4 more during year. It just happens really.

As for Zip and other rebate companies. They don't scare me. I can't tell you the number of buyers who told me they were using the zip website to find the properties I showed them. They tell me my website is nice but Zip's website is off the charts. That's why I'm currently working on a new site with REW that will match me better with zip.

I did have a client recently that had me preview a unit for him, send him additional photos and help him with comparing that unit with others and establishing market value, etc. Then he accepted a free plane ticket from a competitor and bought THAT UNIT with him…

I feel for you! It is like a kick in the gut when someone does this to you

If you are in the business very long ... this will happen to you over and over. As was said, you will probably do this to other people as well and they will sometimes call you and be mad with you.

It is just part of our business and the best way to overcome it is to get 2 more clients to replace the one you lost.
