I am looking to change my permalink settings on my wordpress blog so it gets picked up better. A screen-shot of my current settings are below. Now I know my current option is the worst, but the other two aren't much better, they are both make the URL very numerical both lacking user and spider appeal. I'm am looking for the option that will present the best spider food and is easier for a user to remember if they had to.

I know everyone thinks data driven pages are supposed to rank the same, but I am not willing to take the chance. I would rather have the URL look like static pages then query strings.

I'd click **agree**. It essentially makes the title of your post the url.

There are other ways to do it as well, but it is what I have done with mine. Check the link to the contest in my sig. (grin)

Lou - I'm currently using the "date and name based" option myself. In hind sight I would have rather chosen the custom option. I guess I have a question here as well...if I changed over to custom option, would my previous posts change as well or would they stay as they were. That would be nice if they didn't change and all of my future ones would be custom going forward. Somehow, I think if I changed to custom I would lose all those separate page url names and lose SE indexing as well from the past year and half. I hate changing page names and starting over essentially. Any thoughts....

loudog, just commit to it afterward. If you change it later you lose all your indexed pages. You blog is new s not a biggie now but later you'll want to be careful.
