Power of our signature links at REW?

If you move the link to another site, if and when Google indexes it you could get credit but it also depends on the power of the site. REW might re-populate all your posts with the "new" sig files so you could lose all those credits.

Why are spammers targeting these old threads?? Why not go for some fresh ones that people are actually still reading?

i think because the bots are frequently indexing this older post and it has a lot link juice. i have seen some threads in other forums that are already closed due to continue posting even the topics have been resolved...

This is kind of along the same subject but I have a good question for someone out there. I've noticed that I do get credit for my sig links but I am also getting credit for the keyword link "Visit Arizona Real Estate's homepage".

Arizona Real Estate is my username and I have not created any specific links for that phrase. Any help or explanation would be greatly appreciated.

It's really hard to say how much our sig's contribute to the over all equation of SEO. I think by and large, most of us that have been here for several years enjoy the site for the quality of information we can find vs the little we get from link juice.

I think if your only purpose of being here is to go after the eventual link juice and then disappear, so will your link juice as well, because of the nature of threads being buried over time. So instead enjoy this wonderful resource and contribute when you can. It's all good anyways.

That is well said. I have been here for a long time and seen many people dissappear after their 300th post never to be seen again. I have learned alot of great info from this site and have tried to contribute as much as I can.

I don't believe that Google is giving any seo benefit to the signature links at this time.

The power of a signature link is the click through traffic. Higher quality posts will make the reader want to learn more and click the signature. There is also an added benefit. High quality posts sometimes appear in the organic search results provider even more traffic to the signature link.

Someday soon I may reach the magic 300, but it's taken about 4 years to get this far.

Seems like there is always someone ready to post really good info on this forum. I find I read a heck of a lot more than I ever post.

I check my links of my websites at backlinkwatch.com and yahoo site explorer and I see how effective is forum signature in building backlinks.
