Singapore is a beautiful country...had a manufacturing plant there when I was an engineer...but dont know anything about the real estate. I thought it wa expensive to own property.

When I was there 1998 my impression also was that real estate was extremely expensive, and homes (apartments) were tiny. The economy is super regulated, for example, a volkswagen beetle, after fees and taxes, probably cost $70,000 singapore dollars. This is because the government wants to keep the number of cars on the road down.

Also as I understand it, a family can only hold a property for a set number of years (30? 50?) and then the government buys it back at pre wwII prices and develops it again.

The food in Singapore, however, is in my opinion the best and most diverse in the world!

seem like property market worldwide is having a slow down and price correction due to high inflation and subprime mortage problem...
