I agree that there is more than one way to skin a cat.
 The reason that forced registration seems to work for us is because of the drip follow up with the people who register. This brings them back to my site and people seem to respond to well written non threatening drip follow up. I usually get about 2 per day who directly respond to the drip follow up. Anyway this has been my experience but I do agree that there are lots of ways to get to the same place.
