I don't think google would take an issue with it, if it was done in a natural manner and not to excess.
Ask yourself, would I do this if a search engine didn't exist? If the answer is yes, (and you're a logical person) then I can't see it being a bad thing - especially if you build out a diverse portfolio of additional links that are not in the realm of interlinking.

The reason I am asking this is because, for the second time in six months, we have completely dropped in Google, for most of our keywords. We continue to show up for just a few, and one of them is a misspelling. Our blog is MaineRealEstateNews. The last time we had this issue, we found duplicate URLs existing....they were be generated by a dynamic URL and a friendly URL that we named. We cleared this up through a robots.txt. Now, using the forum in the Google WMT, they are suggesting the the blog and website is a farm. I find this hard to believe, especially since others have similar. Any additional insight would be helpful.

What does farm in this context mean?
I'm not very familiar with linkings.... |

The infamous link farm.

Which sites rankings dropped the blog or the corporate site?

The corporate website - MaineHomeConnection. It is only an issue in Google.

Whether or not G is looking at this as a farm, I think you need more diverse links. You can blog here on REW with original blog content with relevant links back. But would work on really diversifying beyond your blog for links. And by diversifying I don't mean do-follow blog comments.

why don't you try to test if by removing all links between your site and blog, your site will get back on Google.
For me it has been a lot of reading here and other SEO sites and trail and errors, sometime I've tried something that gets me slapped for a week or two by G, but for the most part it corrects it self out once removed. Once I placed one too many links on my blog to my site and G slapped me hard because they can tell from your IP address and whois records, so as a rule I hardly link from my blog to my site unless it makes sense as stated above/prior. |

I don't see it as an issue at all. There's nothing wrong with linking from your blog to your Internet business site or vice verse, in order for your clients and end users to find helpful information. If you were doing excessive linking, then yes there could be a perceived problem.
It just comes down to are you doing the linking to help the general public or for linking purposes solely to rank...Just keep the right mind set and link to help end users and you will always be on the right side.
