Hello Everyone!

I have a newer blog that I have built over 600 links to in the last month and 1/2 and I am wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a link exchange on their blogrolls with me. Thanks in advance!

Link exchanges are very risky and on this forum in the past a number of agents have had penalties assessed. I think it is likely not the place to make such a request.

I just see some competitors that have done it with other Real Estate blogs and they have a ton of backlinks to their sites because of it. My current links are on blogs, webmaster forums, directories, articles, etc. If this is not the place to request this then I am sorry I asked. Cheers!

Thanks James! To further this discussion I want to draw your attention to "The Canadian Real Estate Alliance" that all link to each other and therefore have a distinct advantage over myself. I just started my blog about 2 months ago....... They don't seem to be penalized at all!

http:// montrealrealestateblog. com/links-2/ as an example but there are quite a few of these sites linked up together from each major center.

Any thoughts on how I should approach this? Thanks in advance!

One of the beauties of a blog is that if you write compelling content, other people will naturally (and deeply) link to you. That is FAR better than reciprocal links.

Link OUT liberally to others. That's hard to do, but I can assure you it will get you "on the radar" of other real estate bloggers, some of which at some point will link back to you.

I used to have a blogroll. I got too many requests from people to be added to it so I dumped it over two years ago.

I've been thinking along the same lines. The time is much better spent on content creation. There's too many downside to trading links:
1) Link exchanges are very time consuming.
2) The majority of the exchanges provide no traffic nor value.
3) Risk of penalty for running a link scheme.
4) Reciprocal links degrade fast. Many link partners will remove the backlink after a few weeks.
