Twitter helps in many ways in generating traffic to your website as long as you continue to be active on it and create conversations instead of just posting tweets related solely to your niche. Its one way of telling people that you are not spamming and you are willing to help every people asking questions related to your expertise.

I agree with Lisa, I don't get the purpose of Twitter at all except it's a waste of time. I find LinkedIn and ActiveRain are probably the best for referral sources but it should only be a small percentage of your business.

@Jeffery what about all the young new savvy people you could reach out too? I can't speak for agents but I bring in 1/3 of my business through Twitter because I'm somewhat of an authority in my niche.

Look at is a great way to well round your online presence and attract attention from clients you'd not otherwise get to.

Check out hootsuite.com to manage your account, schedule a month's worth of tweets in advance. Set and forget!

Twitter is a very nice website that generates traffic. The many the followers the higher the chance of getting higher sales because some of the followers are potential clients.

Yes, the more followers, the higher the probability that you are recognized. But I also respect others who are not yet very impressed with what Twitter has to offer. I also believe that activerain is one of the best.

yes, the more followers, the more visible you are to your potential clients. but you have to get connected with the right group of people and build a good relationship with them because i believe that the secret of success on social networking is about how you engage with the RIGHT group of people.

Creating a relevant conversation thereby gaining trust from your friends online using tweeter would be the best way to earn through it.

I use Twitter to notify my followers of new blog posts... seems to work pretty well.. Not for SEO since I don't pay too much attention to that stuff anymore... but for notifying some of my followers for information.

Think of it this way... if you have a couple of hundred followers and you have some real news to blog about.. it's a pretty quick way to notify them and get them to read your blog.

(Sorry... does not answer the original question...)

I've just signed onto twitter and was just looking into how to use it to generate traffic and SEO. Afterall, if it works for some people it can work for everyone, you just need to know how to use it. From the comments here it looks like you need to generate chat with other users to get followers and you need to involve yourself in other people's chat. As with most things - it's going to be time consuming. It'd be interesting to know how other people new to it get on.

That is a good use of Twitter, can't seem to find many other valuable uses vs. the time involved with staying active on it. So much of the conversation seems to be Realtor to Realtor.
