| Laid Back Chat We are all friends here and sometimes we just want to chat. It doesn't have to be real estate web development all the time, some times we have a new baby in the family, sometimes we have a beef or boquet. Sit back and relax here. |

I did an interview with Wall Street Journal Online a couple weeks ago about my lost domain name. You have to be a member to be able to read it. Unfortunately, it didn't explain the entire story & I was sent an anonymous e-mail pointing me to a domain forum that I also had to pay to be able to post to. The people on the forum were saying, "Why didn't she pay the $2,500? Real estate agents make lots of money." IOW, they thought I was stupid for letting it expire & stupid & cheap for not purchasing the name back. I was tempted to pay up to explain myself but decided I didn't care what they thought.
Today my husband comes upstairs to tell me I'm in the local newspaper. This time the article was really edited & didn't explain anything about the fact that I purchased the domain through my host & had asked them what the problem was...yada yada yada. IOW, it really made me look dumb! The funny thing is, the person who runs the company that bought up my domain name is a local kid going to the same college that my son's girlfriend goes to (& my husband's bandmate teaches at). I want my son's girlfriend to trip him & if he has my husband's bandmate as a teacher we want him to flunk him) - LOL! My husband just called me back as he has received several calls from friends who have read the same (condensed) article in the Chicago Sun Times! My husband was congratulating me for my "press." I said, "Yeah, bad press." He claims no press is bad press. I can just see a fsbo or expired I have contacted reading the article & thinking, "If she was incompetent enough to let her domain name expire why would I want to work with her?" Hopefully, most people won't understand the gist of the article. I was going to post the forum thread but either the site is down or gone (can't imagine it's gone as it seemed like it was well established). I'll post it if I the site goes back up (maybe they lost their domain name).
