Is it just me?
My privacy is important to me, plus junk mail is annoying. I just received an email from the board stating that NAR has a new mandate to require the board to obtain my correct physical home mailing address, not a PO Box or office address. (In actuality, NAR, via NRDS has my correct home address and my preferred mailing address.)(My POBox) Anyway, the board had my P.O. Box as my home address and no option to have a alternate mailing address. I have since changed my address with the board to my home address. The board promised me that they won't/don't sell, trade or give away my address, but I know with 98% certainty that they do indeed sell or somehow provide addresses to every real estate agencies' recruiting department. I get plenty of recruiting letters in the mail that used to go to my PO Box., that if my theory is correct I will be receiving at my home address now. Is there any recourse to me if the board releases my personal and private home physical mailing address to anyone that apparantly pays whatever the prescribed fee is? What do they need my home physical address for? Will they send the "MLS Gestapo" to my house to deal with me? ![]() Or am I just rambling...

In Minnesota, real estate licensing by the Minnesota Commerce Department requires that all licensees have their residence address on file and is public domain on the Commerce Website. I would think other states do same. Also, the Minnesota commerce department does not accept PO box addresses for sales agents or from brokerages.
My local board has my office address and does not require to have my residence address. Our MLS does not require our residence address.

The state has my home address, but only publishes the office address.
My board says that in October, NAR made a new rule to require your home address...
