I don't think that an "About Us" link on every page is anything to worry about. But a shameless "City Real Estate" link in every single post would be.

Wow, looks like I need to change some things around again. I do a blog article then put a link at the top to a message board discussion about the article.

Do you feel the same penalty may apply in the future for this activity? On the message board I link back to the blog post too.

Linking back to your blog post itself would be considered a "best practice". I was just referring to spam linking your actual posts.

Sitewide inter-linking may get you penalized. I would only link one way or use the rel="me" attribute.

Thanks for the comments. This is an update. Our blog has been in place for 2 years and has 58 posts. Within those posts there are 17 links directly to the website homepage. There are 45 links to secondary pages that include more details on the posts. Additionally, there are 6 permanent "pages" that include 3 links to the home page and 40 links to secondary pages - again that include more details of each page.

Does this seem excessive? I think at this time I am going to remove all links in the posts themselves, and greatly reduce the links in the "pages" and see if this helps. The blog address is mainerealestatenews (dot) com.

I think that the internally linking is fine and helps the site navigation. Do you have a site map?

For interlinking between my own sites, I use the rel=”me” tag.
