One way to build links is to provide a service for other bloggers by guest blogging. They like to get new info and it gives them a break from having to come up with new stuff all the time. Almost everyone I've contacted about guest blogging has been happy to have me write, after viewing my own blog.

Here are two examples of my guest blogging in the last couple weeks.

One is a local food blog http://tastyisland.wordpress.com/200...trip-to-japan/

and the other is a real estate blog of another prominent user here on REW

you guys will like this. I just posted on that food blog this morning. Minutes later there was a comment. That person who commented clicked through to my site and gave me her info as a lead. Just called her but no answer, so I emailed her and she replied. Not looking now but she likes my site enough to let me keep her in my database.

I totally forgot about the click throughs on a guest blog post. i was thinking only about the link.

great suggestion! I've written guest content for other real estate sites around the country for years, but the referral traffic is very low. I've always just done it for "the juice".

I never really thought about guest posts on local blogs. They're not related, but if the majority of their readers are from your area, that could be HUGE!

actually it was Morgan that suggested finding local high traffic sites to guest blog at.

just enter your city name with food blog, entertainment blog, anything blog, etc. there are dozens around here.

I did another guest blog post on a different site. Not quite as much traffic or PR, but I already got a few clicks and one real lead from the post.

i highly recommend doing a guest blog on something other than real estate.

I just got another guest blog, sort of. I wrote the post and the author edited it and gave me a link. Great blog with PR5 on the home page. I'm also going to do some follow up posts.
