Re: Where do you find content?
I just had a thought... if you had substantial traffic to your blog or website perhaps you could contact local businesses in your target area and charge them a small fee (or even do it free) to promote any special events or even just introduce services, institutions, and businesses in the area with small advertorial posts.
In fact, you could contact all the businesses and institutions and tell them that if they were holding an event or promotion of any kind that you would be willing to put the word out for them, then give them your email and ask them to inform you whenever they wanted you to promote them. That way you'll stay constantly updated on really local events without having to dig around too much.
You could write a post about a great school in a certain district, and then at the end of the post put a link to homes/apartments that are close to the school.
You could have a list of services and conveniences in a certain area and direct potential buyers of property in the area to that list so they can see that the property is only 20 mins away from a pool, grocery store, restaurant, laundromat, gas station, whatever.
And maybe in return ask those businesses to put up a small sticker with your website/phone number somewhere around their cash register or in some other prominent place.
