If you are confused as to why the log-in is there, just think about the impact it makes on your viewers.
IMO, remove it.

Replace it with a form to sign up for your newsletter and send out local market statistics once a month. People love to know the inner workings of the real estate world.

I have been wanting to learn how to add a log in feature to my website. I use Frontpage to make my site, and have been learning as I go. I wanted to get something up quick, so I built in a few days and will tweak, change and improve as I go. I have all of the mls search engines already set up for free... One thing I know people like is there own portfolio, where they can store their own properties they are interested in, so everytime they come back and log in, they will be there for them. The newsletter is another excellent idea that atxtrealtor mentioned. I have seen some nice ones that are automatically sent, you can decide layout and content as well.
