Is there any SEO advantage to hosting multiple sites on different servers or is it just fine to have them all on the same server?

The sites are all real estate related and will be somewhat interlinked.

I've got a few sites that I am moving from godaddy to some new home. I am wondering if I should put each one with a different company or just stick them all on the same server.

Don't know about SEO, but there may be other pro and cons.
1) bandwidth tends to be cheaper in bulk in our market. Doubling your bandwidth doesn't cost double.
2) Having the sites on multiple servers means that if one goes down the other sites will not be effective.

Judy, there is no empirical evidence to support that.

For ten years, I have both owned and maintained dozens and dozens of sites, some as a reseller host, others sitting on a multi-domain plan, a few sitting alone.

Unless one is engaging in a 'link farm' activity; i.e., enormous cross-linking between sites, the consensus is that a few sites sitting within the same Class "C" IP block has no effect on SERPs, PR, traffic, etc.

However, your site, hosted on a shared server may be in a "bad neighborhood". That's one of the components of my analysis when forming a quote for a new customer with an existing site. The results are surprising and often sobering as porn, casino and spaming sites proliferate the web.
