I have just added a new url www (dot) johannegosselin (dot)com pointing to www dot johnsabia (dot)com/contact.php. Is this set up (forwarded) correctly?

FYI, GoDaddy uses 302s to redirect. You may want to reconsider your domain registrar. I moved 60+ over to Moniker. They use 301s.

It's always a good idea to check the server headers yourself when redirecting. Just put the url in the appropriate form field here http://www.seoconsultants.com/tools/headers.asp and it should return 301 permanantly moved.

My wife has customers from Quebec, Canada that have properties here in South Florida. Many only speak or prefer speaking French, so its just easier giving them her name (the url) where they land on a page with french text and recognize her photo.

SD and VRI - thanks for the info. I see that the redirect is a 302.

Is there a way to change this to a 301 without moving from godaddy? I will look into moniker as well. Again, thanks for the help.

GD doesnt do 301s at the moment. You could host it and then do the redirect yourself, but that is more money and more work. Changing registrars solves your problem in the 5 days it takes GD to release the domain.

Kid Disco, Bob, Morgan .....

I'd like to hear your opinion(s) on using 301 redirects as opposed to 302 redirects. In this case the URL's to be redirected are new (never have been attached or redirected to other pages). A colleague of mine insists that using (GoDaddy) 302 redirects is no longer a problem (he does acknowledge that in the past there were issues / problems with 302's, but suggested that Google has addressed this issue).

For the better part of 18 months (since Point2 messed up a lot of redirects) my inclination has been that given the choice, a 301 redirect for a URL is ALWAYS preferential to using a 302 redirect.

I'd take Bob's advice and go with a 301...

I have not heard of GD's 302s somehow being considered SEO wise the same as a 301. Call me conservative, but it simply is easier to switch registrars than to have to live with the doubt.

I (as well ) would be interested to see if anything has changed in the past few months, but I do not think it has...
