Default What to do next?

I created my website at the end of May and I have just completely redesigned the look of the site: www.ryanwardrealestate.com. I have very little experience in this area. My homepage is indexed by google, but, no other page is. I submitted a sitemap about a month ago. I just learned how to create links. my text link is:
<a href="http://www.ryanwardrealestate.com">Alpharetta, Roswell and Sandy Springs Real Estate</a>.
Is this the correct way to do it? I also have a link with a logo but I don't think you need to see that for these purposes. Some people have emailed me asking to exchange links and I know that it can help improve pagerank. What I don't know is where I am supposed to put them and the rest. I thought about making a referral directory for out of my area real estate links and I just started a Wordpress Blog at: www.ryanwardrealestate.com/Wordpress/index.php and I don't really know what top do with that either. I have a good deal of time to work on this stuff right now as I work from home. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The biggest problem that I have is that I used Publisher to make my site. I didn't know any better. Staring over would be a nightmare. Any ideas.

lol that looks like the websites I made back in the late 90's with publisher
http://members.fortunecity.com/furry...rmot/index.htm (my first website)

My honest suggestion is to hand over $700 - $1500 to the pros and purchase a good template site. I think Morgan and the REW staff would be happy to help you out.

Microsoft publisher in my opinion is not much good for anything other than creating sites for your friends and family.

Are you a REALTOR or a professional web designer?
I did my own sites for a long time before I realized that I was loosing money by spending hours on the computer when I could be showing homes. A good tie-in to the MLS is not optional if you want to do business on the web, it is mandatory!

I'm not saying it's impossible to create your own site and get it well ranked but if you are working with publisher right now I doubt you know much about css or database/web integration. In the long run you will save a ton of time, money and effort by letting someone else do it for you.

On the other hand if you really want to do it yourself pick up a copy of Dreamweaver and a few good books and dive in. I recommend the Idiots Guides to both dreamweaver and PHP. They are easy to read for beginners.

On the other other hand the price of a legal copy of dreamweaver and a few good books is the same price as a simple template site :-)

Oh god, you just brought back some repressed memories. That looks like the kind of site I would make/visit myself back in the day, lol

Btw, building a basic website with a nice layout is very easy using Css/HTML. Putting in IDX is fairly simple too, there are $30/mo solutions like wolfnet that look pretty good and allow client login. I'd hire someone for databases once you get some more cash. I could do it myself but it would take to long to learn.

IMHO, get a free HTML editor and learn HTML/CSS if you want very efficient and clean layouts.

I spoke with the guys here that run the forum and looked at some of the work. Looks and sounds great. I wil probably have a them take care of it for me. My wife says I have to wait until Jan. We have a six month old and college fund comes first. I did clean it up and it looks much better for now. let me know what you think. www.ryanwardrealestate.com. I just have to figure out what to blog about now. I'm sure I can get some good ideas here.

Thanks for the input.

If you need a payment plan on a template Ryan, that is not a problem, I would rather see you in a great site sooner than later - give me a call when you get a chance

It is more about justifying the expense to my wife. That is why I was looking for some tangible responses to my other topic about leads. How many and what price point etc. If I can show her that it is possible to leverage the internet to generate income, the issue will go away and I can move forward. It's all about sales. In this case to my wife. I am sure I am not alone on this one. On the other hand, a payment plan may be a good backup plan that I could get started with. I would rather get started now.

My site created a good income this year in a bad market. Without it I doubt I would have made 1/6th the income.
