Question Effects of Re-writing Web Site

I have a web site at www.sbgibbons.com (also a pointer from www.BernardGibbons.com) that has been on-line over 4 years now and consistently gets first page positions on Google, Yahoo and MSN for my main keyword phrases.

I basically hand-coded the site from scratch using an HTML editor (Arachnophilia) but it is getting to be a pain maintaining it and making improvements in this way.

I have recently started to familarise myself with DreamWeaver and certainly I will use this to develop any future sites but I am considering re-writing the above site in DreamWeaver to make it easier to maintain and improve.

Any thoughts on whether this is likely to affect my ranking in Google etc.?

If you are keeping the URL's and content the same, just changing the html / css and graphics you should have no issues, I am assuming that this will improved code (Cleaner html, css etc)

I dont see a problem

Once you have it recoded you might also want to take it to the site reviews forum and ask for an SEO site review, I see a lot of opportunities missed on your site in terms of proper optimization that could really help your traffic (Lack of "real estate" terms in title of homepage for instance)
