Default Increased SPAM Levels

Has anyone else been receiving an increased amount of spam email over the past 3-5 days? I have seen a significant increase, and unfortunately, have not been able to find a lot of patterns in the emails so that I can filter them into the proper folder, that being, the junk folder

Let me know if you have seen something similiar, and perhaps more important, what you have done to combat it.

No more than usual.
I had someone hijack a PHP mail form on my site a month ago and was getting 300+ items of spam a day but nothing much since then.

I have been receiving a lot of spam recently. For a long time it was quiet, then all of a sudden .... I have just been trying to follow the unsubscribe links or jsut adding to my junk email list.

Yes, me too! The spam is a little more clever lately, by inserting the spam-ertising on top of a page of jibberish content. Mostly for prescription drugs.

I was just thinking today that it seems like I'm getting a little more than usual but not like about a month ago, already mentioned by coastal, where I was getting 300+ a day. However, that one was filling out contact forms & REW was able to do something to filter it.

Large increase for me. I would say up at leastt 100% in the last 3-5 days.

Increased spam is the best argument for http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/ and its

Junk Mail Filters: Each email you receive passes through Thunderbird's leading-edge junk mail filters. Each time you mark messages as spam, Thunderbird improves its filtering so you can spend more time reading the mail that matters. Thunderbird will also use your mail provider's spam filters to keep junk mail out of your inbox.

For general email addresses I use BoxTrapper Spam Trap. Works like a charm.

I always thought it was better to NEVER hit the unsubscribe link from a spam message -- replying tells the spammer that your address is in fact deliverable.

I've had no increase in the last week. Same old 30 or so spams per day. I'm not very popular.

heh! talk of spam reminds me of this:
