How do you extrapolate the keyword terms used at overture into google. What I mean is if you research a keyword that comes up 100 times according to overture, how does that translate to the same keyword search done on google?

GreenPeaMedia is correct, it used to change a lot often but lately it's been 3 months - although the last one (October) was a little irregular.
I'm not sure how to directly relate the overture data to google, but I would imagine its 60% higher? Isn't that how much more market share google have got then the others? Would be my best educated guess - if you can call that educated ![]() |

There are too many unknowns to determine the ratio of keyword searches in Overture to that of Google. Fortunately, an exact calculation is not needed for search engine optimization. The value is in the comparison. If, in Overture, one keyword is searched 10 times and another only five, the difference is likely the same in Google.

Ms.Ryan is correct.
You are looking for RELATIVE amounts of traffic to determine whether to go for one or the other. There are other threads in the Yahoo forum (just do a search and they should come up...) that actually compare the Overture tool to Wordtracker and others... Bottom line is this...There is NO way to ACCURATELY say "The term Louisville Real Estate is searched for EXACTLY x times on Google and Y times on Yahoo and Z times on MSN...It is not in the Search Engines' best interest to give that EXACT of market share info out. Hope this helps.. Best Eric

Sounds good. I found a neat tool:
www.google.com/webhp?complete=1&hl=en google suggest is what it is called. As you type in the search term it tells you the number of queries. Thanks for the responses.

You can kind of estimate the number of queries for a certain keyword by taking the numbers from the Overture keyword tool and then multiplying it by the other search engine's market share as calculated by your favorite metrics service (ComScore, Neilsen, HitWise, etc...). AWall's KW tool does it loosely: http://tools.seobook.com/general/keyword/ Though, as Mr. Blackwell stated: Quote:
