Let's say your keyword is "city, state real estate". Will that also count when people search "city real estate" or is it necessary to use both seperately. How does this apply in the Meta Tags as well. From a readability standpoint I think it makes sense to use different ways of saying the same thing. I am wondering about the SEO.
Thanks

Ryan;
What follows is my OPINION. It is based on SEO across several different industries, but may well be added to or disagreed with by others. (I am NOT attempting to give you a comprehensive guide to onpage optimization here. The answer to your question is yes and no. First the yes part. Anytime a singular keyword appears on a page, it does help the search engine in determining what that page is about. This is assuming that the keyowrd is not the only thing on the page (meaning that it is mixed in correctly with other text on the page in a natural way). So yes this helps somewhat. Now the No part. While it helps above, Google DOES (based on my experience) look at 3 and 4 word phrases to determine relevance as well. (Meaning that including City State Real Estate EVERYWHERE on your site is LESS beneficial that mixing in some City Real Estate as well (along with some City and some Homes and etc....) Now for the main point. If I was designing a new site today, I would design the text MORE for the user and LESS for the Search Engine. (Note: I have not always done that in the past, but we all learn (grin)). It is a better way to go. If you do it that way, you should NOT always use the same syntax (City State Real Estate) in referring to your business area. it just doesn't sound natural to say the same thing over and over. Best; Eric
