Great resource, disco kid.
I think every web-savvy agent knows the benefits of writing an article every week ; however, most of them don't. One reason is certainly because they assume it has to be a really developed, intelligent article, and they're therefore made unmotivated or intimidated.

If I was a realtor, I would treat that "content ideas" article as my own checklist, and I'd write them in two quick drafts each. They'd take about an hour each at most. Voila! (This is not to say that you shouldn't hire an REW editor to clean up all your hideous grammatical foibles before you publish to the world.)

My point is, when people are experienced with something, they take their knowledge for granted, and they fail to recognize the validity of their information. There are small details a realtor knows, without knowing he knows them. Start writing about what you know -don't think about whether it's obvious- and you'll soon find you have an article that is useful for readers.

You can do it!

Nice post!

I notice there a lot of good "How To" and "What to Do" article ideas, such as "What are the Top 5 Scams of building contractors and how to avoid them?"

I think a lot of people find those types of articles the easiest to write - just go through the checklist, and make sure everything's clearly explained.

On the other hand, I wonder how often these types of articles would be in danger of having duplicate content. Just think how many people will explain "how to" using the exact same steps. If you're not creating these articles for SEO purposes, great - it's still a useful page. But for full SEO benefit, I would probably avoid using point form, or bulleted lists on these types of pages, and stick with complete sentances. Overall however, probably not a big danger, especially if you're writing from your own knowledge.

Great point Matt....although I think the danger is pretty small.

That space is getting a little bit crowded. The advantage would be to take some of Disco's ideas and expand / run with them. Make them a bit bigger and badder than the Top 5 or Top Ten.

Good post Disco!

Eric
