Default RE: BA's

Hey Jeff,

It depends on the team, a full service team usually has a lead agent who exclusively does listings and BA's are fed all of the leads generated from the listings. This is typically a 50/50 split. Splits are always negotiable based on performance.

There are quite a few established firms who provide common work areas for their BA to access email, MLS, phone, copier, etc. And there are quite a few who show you to your desk, show you how to answer your phone and then pat you on your back and wish you luck.

Before you join a team you need to interview the team leader and interview the broker manager. Sometimes they are different people. I always recommend getting your answers upfront before you sign up with a brokerage or a team. The main office I service here has a rule the BA's who work for teams can not quit and go it alone at the same office. That can be a real kick in the pants, you work for a Team build a reputation, get some cash flow and get lined up to become a full service agent only to be told you got to hit the road and go work some where else if your going to go it alone.

It is always a good thing to start off with your own phone #, your own email (domain) and your own PC.

Think about it. You get up and leave to start on your own.. Gotta change your number because you paid the team leader to use his cell phone, your emails no good because your promoting his domain and all that work you did prospecting, letter writing, designing marketing materials, all gone... You where working on a company computer.

I hope this helps..
