Is it worth while to go out and aquire myspace links? I see some high ranking sites in big markets exploiting this. While I will never exploit something because it just opens you up to getting banned or penalized, I am wondering what peoples opinions are on myspace links? For an example of a myspace spammer look at greatchicagorealestate dot com. He ranks #2 for Chicago Real Estate and most of his 200+ links in google come directly from myspace.

I don't know how much those links are helping.

I would say that 80% of the listed links with Google are Xanga and Myspace. Im not saying he doesnt have other good links I am just saying when google is showing you with 260 backlinks and 70% of them are coming from Myspace and you are #2 for the 3rd biggest city in the USA for the term Chicago Real Estate it obviously is helping you with google. I mean this guy is outranking some really good and heavily optimized sites.

Where is the actual link on the myspace pages?

I dont know our office blocked Myspace after a incident with a realtor smoking a joint in a picture she posted and getting kicked from the board. LOL

Go to the page and open the source code. Then go to edit/find and search that way. It could be possible they are hiding the links and that would mean almost certianly it is spam and should be brought to the attention of google.

Just to clarify on the strength of the website. Greatchicagorealestatedotcom used to have thousands of link exchanges and they were giving links away from link software created three links away pages. This summer those links went puff. So a lot of people are giving them one way links. The owner of the site is not that brokerage listed there. The owner (which I believe Morgan has met before, I dont know who) also owns a lot more websites such as in Memphis Minneapolis etc. They use some weird linking scheme that I could not figure out. They do quite a few three way linking and actually share each other's blogs to interlink and give one way home page links to eachother. QUite a neat scheme really. It is much much more than myspace (even if myspace has any affect which i have doubts on the effect of links from dynamic pages.)

Aren't Linking Schemes just like this exactly what google DOESNT want?

And honestly I have no idea who this guy is or do I care that he is #2 for chicago real estate. I honestly am wondering if I should go build a couple myspace pages.
