Default Link Value for Articles

Is it prudent or a waste of time to submit the web page your articles appear on to the search engines?

What's the best way to get link value for your articles other than just writing a good article?

Everything I've read indicates that submitting anything to the search engines is a waste of time. Submit the articles to sites that are crawled frequently - ezinearticles.com, top7business.com, articlealley.com, vkhowto.com, REW blogs are crawled a lot...there are a lot out there. You want to look for an authority, on-topic site for the best links. Did you read Morgan's Blog on a diverse linking portfolio?

Ezinearticles.com is the best article directory site as far as I know. Might as well just submit to the best to avoid duplicate content penalties.

Wellll, if your are submitting to article directories, they WILL be duplicated. That's the whole purpose of submitting to an article directory,- To get others to post the article on their site with your links attached.

I have my guys submitting to a ton of article sites - he just completed 130. Do you think that this could cause a problem? Is it overkill? What do you guys think?

I always assumed that the "viral nature of article writing" indicates that "the more links, the merrier" and that you couldn't really overdo it.

I would be concerned. Having too many links too fast is one of my concerns. And, it's not like I set out to do it that way. I did a bunch of article submissions similar to what you are doing right now, wellll, that worked tooo well. What happens is the other article directories pick up the articles for their sites, then visitors start downloading them. Since I did the article submissions I've since learned that too many links too fast will certainly be picked up in the algorithms. Whether they hurt or not will depend on all sorts of other factors. For more information on this, read this. And note about half way down the page for, "Placed with a gradual natural increase."

Well....I may have a problem. I've written 12 articles in the past 2 months & 4 have been picked up by BAN. I've gone from no links to about 600 in 2 months.

I'm going to start promoting different sites for a bit.

Good idea. I'm a repentant back-linker, and I hope there isn't a consequence to my getting too many links too fast. My domain is 11 years old, so I think I've been offered a bit of grace. Who knows, only time will tell.

One bonus to having a ton of back links is that your competition will not have any idea which links actually amount to anything.

Getting links from articles is a wonderful idea. With an 11 year old website Google and the rest of the SE's may overlook getting so many links so fast.
The key to getting valuable links to your site with articles is to change the "Anchor Text" with each article you submit. For example you could use "Frisco Texas Real Estate" in your first article and "Norht Texas Real Estate" in your second. You could even change the anchor text on the same article when you submit it to different sites.
