Is it ok to have dup content on my own site. Basically the exact same info (or parts of that info) on two different pages on my site?
I've also started blogging and have questions on where to put these stories. I have a number of different blogs here and there. Can I post the same story to all of the different blogs or should I just keep it at one location?

Coastal -
From what I've read, the dupe content isn't a penalty - it's more of a filter. You're not going to get any +- points for dupe content.

Yup, that in many's perspectives led to the "supplemental hell" and then the dreaded "url onlies". Not a good idea to duplicate content on your own site.
It's cool to use snippets and teasers but if the pages are too similar you're setting yourself up IMO. About the blogs... if they're on different IP's it sounds rather similar to article submissions but you're controlling the content. I would be cautious not to do it all of the time unless you're going to have others posting links from your blogs. (Google is pretty good at identifying networked sites)
