Default Should I use my 11-year old domain?

Hey guys! I registered a domain in 1996 - so it's old...

http://whois.domaintools.com/n-i.com

It's also short. I've been offered considerable money for it by companies before, but have refused.

Would it make any difference to use this site for RE purposes, solely because of its old age? There's been no homepage there for years and years.

If it has not had any links or any pages on it, the value is negligable. A lot of people get confused thinking that an old domain = better jump in serps. That is actually incorrect, with old domains (Usually) come old links - and those old well established links are the secret to old domains.

From a relo perspective what branding potential does n-i.com have, that is what I would be asking (And that is always my most important consideration when choosing a domain, you can rank anything - but what about the branding and other potentials of the domain?

I figured as much. I'll continue to use it as a very short email address and not a whole lot more. :-)

When I got (N-I) my email address was drew.nichols@gremlin.greenville.lib.co.sc.us (a mouthful!) - meaning that getting drew@n-i.com absolutely rocked!

I would sell it if people offer good money for it.

You can find a little bit longer domain that makes sense for both your domain and email. I think people like to email the same address as the domain they visited. Looks more professional.

Well I have that email address registered with thousands of sites. The buyer is going to have to agree to give me market-priced POP account for the rest of history. :-)

Or put a page or two up and direct some links to it and leave it up until you are ready to work on it. Maybe you go another 11 years.
