I am trying to increase the one - way inbound links to my site's does anyone know if it is helpful to post on social bookmarking sites like: www.wordpress.org , del.ico.us, or moveabletype.org.
I heard that posting your website on these sites can help your placement on the search engines, but is that only if your website gets lots of votes and is then placed on the front page? |

The links have value if they end up on a page that will get indexed and don't use a "no follow" tag. For example the links in your signature from REW have no value as there is a no follow tag attached to it currently. If you want to know how to see the no follow tags without looking at code read this post.

A lot of people say getting your articles on Digg is such a hot tip, but the reality is that Digg is a tech site. Geeks don't really get into real estate. If you search for real estate articles you will find that none of them ever get to the front page. I submitted one myself today, but I know it won't go anywhere. I'm still hunting around for a site that is really worth submitting articles to.

Lydia, do you have an REW Blog? You can certainly submit your articles there - 100% real estate related, backlinks from all of your posts (Not just your articles) and no link condoms
Oh yeah, REW has a ton of authority as well, so the backlinks are quite valuable We will be launching our online news section March 1st, so if your article is also newsworthy, it has the potential to be syndicated to thousands of real estate sites across the web as well. All it takes is posting it to your blog ![]()

My though is submiting to Digg, del.icio.us and others is still good. The articles are still linked and you can write your own comments about it which could get traffic from random searches. Also search engines could still pick it up and is worth taking the time to post.
Making the first page is worth tens of thousands of visits which is amazing but I would be happy with 100 if the post only takes 2 minutes.

For the digg sites or techie sites, you can always write about the influences of technology on the real estate industry

I think the REW blogs are a fantastic way to build authority for your site. Heck, even some of the blogs I've posted for market areas and guides for buyers/sellers, are ranking higher in the SERPS than the pages they link to on my site.
