Default "The Edge", Rick Kurtz

I was just wondering if anyone has ever bought or had experience with the "turn key system" that is known as "THE EDGE" and is presented by Resource Dynamics resourcedynamicsltd.com/about.html
and Rick Kurtz.

He gave a presentation today and his package was almost $1500. He claims to be a major player in real estate training for many of the large firms. However, I look at the system he is selling (you sign up now, pay and then attend a seminar in about 2 months to be taught by 5 of the countries 'best' agents).

Some of his ideas were interesting and unique...I just didn't know about dropping $1500 on it.

I don't understand all of these people dropping large amounts of $$ to hear a speaker.

Maybe I'm special but I show people houses and tell them the truth and they buy from me. No hokus pokus, no smoke and mirrors just a good website and honest white bread mid western hospitality.

I make more $$ than I should. I'd be happy to tell you my daily routine for only $500.00

Coastal, it's a matter of getting information that you don't have already. In order to take my business to the next level I have been looking for new ideas...marketing or otherwise.

I'm a big believer in education and continuing to learn. I could probably package what I do as well and teach a lot of people something they didn't know.

I know that there are thousands of agents who have purchased the Proctor system and other systems like it...just wanted to hear from someone other than his testamonial letters as to what he was actually selling.

We certainly don't need MORE snake oil in this profession and I would love to go back to my office and share what I learn about this system and guy.

If a program was so great, the offerers should not have to push it or sell it, they should get their clientelle from referral.

As the saying goes, it's the singer not the song...

I too beleive in education. And it is ADMIIRABLE of you to hunger for that info. I just think that the BEST form of education is building relationships with the true leaders in an industry/area of interest. Keep in mind that paid speakers are NOT in the real estate sales business. They are in the real estate agent training/ info marketing business. They efforts are focussed on making money from marketing information.

To most cost effectively learn the best way to do things, establish long term relationships with HIGHLY successful agents. NEVER go to lunch alone again for as long as you live (always dine with loved ones or people that you want to learn from), and ask good questions.

Think of it this way $ 1500 equals 60 lunches with leaders in your area (at $25.00 per). Which do you think you'd get more out of? My guess is that $1500 would ALMOST CERTAINLY get you one deal in 60 lunches...(grin)

Just my $0.02

Best;

Ok, call me a skeptic.

What has anyone ever learned in just a day or two that significantly increased their sales? I'm certainly not saying I know everything because I sure as hell don't. I've listened to my share of positive attitude tapes and "how I got rich" books. Quite honestly most of them don't tell you anything you don't already know.

Have a good attitude
Work Hard
Be friendly
take calculated risks
don't gamble
Keep off the hard drugs
Spend as much time as possible on this board and see what other successful Realtors are up to.
Buy a template site from Morgan

Who else has some wisdom to add? I'm sure if we all pooled what we know we could come up with quite a list. We could even sell it here on REW "The REW Realtors how to get rich selling real estate book" We can give morgan 10% of the profits if he puts an image link to it on his site

The truth is (for me) that if you work hard, are open to learn, seek advice from people who have what you want, market CONSISTENTLY to the same people, have good etiquette to build rapport and have solid market knowledge that you can convey, then you can be successful selling real estate.

Real estate is a sales business. The sales business is a people business. People business is a service business. Service business provides something that others want.

Find people who want what you have. Find a way to introduce yourself to them (marketing).

Use the concept of benefit marketing (google it).

Sell people on you.

Deposit check. Invest. Spend. Take time off. Live a balanced life....

Ok I am sure to get ripped for this but Ron was asking if you had ever heard of this guy wich I have not but will now check into him. As for some of the responses while good intentions can you please explain to me how taking people out to lunch or being a good guy and honest and getting 50-70% of your business from referals is going to teach Ron or myself how to build a team of agents or go from 50 to 150 transactions in one year or the effective use of branded vs unbranded web marketing or how to hire the right assistant and so on. I could go on and on but I think that many of these trainers are snake oil salesmen but many also have much to teach. Gary Keller has and continues to teach ideas that I had not heard or thought of on how to build a business. Good stuff that I will gladly pay for. Craig Proctor sells over 500 homes a year....how does he do this. Brian Rodgers sold 318 homes with one assitant without getting a forclosure deal from his state, and so on. Being willing to learn what others have done and continue to do is not silliy if for whatever reason your goal is to get to their level. If I want to learn to swim yes I can ask someone who swims well to teach me or I can Hire a lifeguard to do so, it depends on how well I truly wish to swim

Hi Ron, I did some reading on the guy but I don't see what it is you are paying $1500 for, maybe I misssed it. Seems to me that this is not a system per say but a series of ideas so I think it would be rather expensive considering you can get tested and true systems for less money. Just my 2 cents.

Craig Proctor uses several gimmicks to get the phone to ring, and he personally doesn't sell 500 homes. He just has assistants do it for him. In that respect he is NOT in the kind of real estate business most of us here want to be in.

A lot of those programs are teaching conveyor belt real estate: trick prospect into calling, confuse them with options, impress with how many listings you have, hand off to assistant who hopefully won't screw up, on to the next one.
