Have any of you had any luck with having a forum? It seems like a ton of work.

I have a good domain and Idea for one in a local area, Im wondering what type of forums people are using, I know vbulletin is the way to go, but are there different types.

i just put one up today on a new domain, i am waiting to have it linked to all my sites.

We've done well with forums and yes it can be a lot of work. There are more than a few different brands of forum software ( vBulletin, phpBB, etc. )

Is there any paticular brand that is better then the other? Doesn't Vbulletin have a SEO friendly forum or something?

I haven't compared forum software recently so I couldn't tell you if one is better than another. I use vBulletin and am happy with the product.

The ipbfree forum seems to do well in terms of seo. I find some of the threads from one of the ipbfree forums I belong to in Google when I search for some terms.
