Default Removing white backgrounds from company logos

For anyone who uses Photoshop, I created a video tutorial on how to remove the white background around company logos. It also shows how to move it on top of another graphic and size it correctly to look nice. I use this technique all the time when creating website headers or other promotional materials.

If you're interested, you can check it out at http://www.agentpromotion.com

That's some pretty nice self promotion you have there for your blog
I'm guessing your link will not be alive very long.

Oh well. Sorry for trying to share ideas and give tips. Sometimes it's easier to post a link to a site than it is to post an entire article.

I guess I'm only allowed to ask questions and get answers here. I'll be keeping anything new that I learn to myself. Thanks for setting me straight.

Neither of us have any authority here, that I'm aware of, to dictate what you can and cannot post but dropping promotional type links in two of your first three posts is a sure way to earn your self a disingenuous label with members.

VRI,

I wasn't trying to "promote" anything. I happen to have received an email yesterday from an agent asking me how to remove the white that's around her Re/Max balloon logo so she could put it on her website's header.

So instead of trying to explain it, last night I created a video tutorial to show how to do it. I figured since I already had the video done, I'd put it on my site. I then thought maybe others would want to know how to do it too.

As for my other posts, the first one was introducing myself and gave everyone my background. My second one answered a question about what software is used for flyers and brochures (and I showed an example of one I created....sorry). And my third one is here showing the Photoshop tutorial.

If this is wrong, then fine, I'll keep to myself. If it's ok, then I'll continue sharing things that I do and learn. And yes, I do admit that I can learn from others.

If that's the case, with a little experience in the community, your posts might have been viewed differently. The reality is though....

I'm sure that you understand promotional would be to increase traffic or heighten an awareness of a service.

Mike,
There are several reasons you are being responded to this way and like another member mentioned, hopefully with more time and experience you will understand.

First and foremost, you posted a link drop type post. Hey everyone I did something, have something or will share something check out this link. 99% of the time, people post these kinds of posts as obvious attempts to either solicit backlinks or traffic to their sites. That sort of thing is not appreciated here. Maybe you are being helpful, maybe it is self promotional (My thinking is that it is actually a little of both) but maybe you understand how and why it is received this way. You have very few posts here, and almost all of them are constructed in such a way that you drop links that are designed to drive traffic to your site.

Second, did you read the forum description before you posted this?

Here is the forum description for Real Estate Chat
Quote:
Discuss general issues in the world of real estate. Trends in the industry, which franchise to join, recent real estate news. New Realtors, learn from seasoned agents and brokers.
What does logo design have to do with the real estate industry? We have a web design section here at REW, had you actually read the forum descriptions or rules you would have realized there is a place for most anything our members might want to discuss. You post a logo design thread in a real estate chat section you are going to be seen as a spammer. Bottom line.

I am going to move this to the appropriate forum so as to not clog up the real estate chat forum with irrelevant posts. Incidentally, every time someone makes a post in the wrong forum because they haven't bothered to look to see which would be the right one, a moderator has to go in a move it. Our mods for the most part are volunteers and this takes time (Sure maybe only 1-2 minutes) but multiply that by 500 times a month. It really gets old.

I know you are new, and are not familiar with rules and regs here yet, and I honestly have a very hard time conveying tone in writing so please do not take offense, I am actually attempting to pacify the situation by providing a clarifying post.

Thanks for the info Mr. Webmaster (sorry don't know your name yet).

I did look at the other forum areas and wasn't sure what this topic would fit under so that's why I posted it where I did. I'll try to put more thought into it next time.

As for traffic and backlinks, I never really thought about it. If people come to the site, great. If not, oh well. I make my living selling real estate and I created the site to be helpful and to possibly learn a thing or two from others(which these forums seem to be like too). Plus I love designing and creating promotional materials for our real estate team (I'm in charge of marketing) and showing others what I've done. Although I only do this on the net where my local competition doesn't go. Don't need them stealing ideas.

I guess I was just being the new guy in school trying to make friends here by providing some info. It looks like I was giving the wrong message and I apologize.

In any case, lesson learned and hopefully it's all water under the bridge now.
