Lightbulb Meta Keywords

When doing your on page SEO should you list keywords like this

Keywords = Cedar City Real Estate, Cedar City Realtor, Cedar City Homes for Sale, Cedar City Homes

Or Like This

Keywords = Cedar City, Real Estate, Realtor, Homes, Homes for Sale

I am doing some on page optimization and wondering if I am over doing it by listing keywords the first way. I would love to hear what everyone has to say on this subject.

I've heard that you should just use spaces and not commas. That way you don't have to redundantly repeat repetitious things over and over continuously, etc. like in the example below:

"homes, homes for Sale, Cedar City homes, Cedar City Homes for Sale...."

You get the idea. So in addition to the two methods you posted, I'd like to add a third method in there for consideration. I'm a bit of a newbie so I'm also looking forward to a response.

Option 3:
Keywords = Ceder City Real Estate Realtor Homes For Sale

Any input would be appreciated.

i use the second way, i read many places that is the way it should be done. If you even use the keyword thing at all. Some of my site i dont even use it.

NuHome,

So I was reading through your source code cause im cool like that. What I noticed was you spelled House wrong you spelled it Houce. I am probally the only person to see this cause you only see it when you mouse over the get pre approved icon. Anyways you may want to change that up.

Anyone else want to weigh in on my previous subject of how should I list keywords. I guess the best anwser would be to look at a top page in a top area and copy there way of doing it.

IMO, there are two ways to do the meta keywords:
1. Commas and no spaces, each keyword represented individually (eg house, florida house, florida house for sale)
2. Spaces and no comma's, keywords not repeated (eg house florida for sale)

The reality is though, as Nuhome indicated, there really is little/no search engine benefit to using the meta keywords at all.

I am back to using it though as I FEEL that it may have some bearing on the scoring for the uniqueness of the pages, and I use #1 (comma's and no spaces)

Why no spaces? Before I go and remove them all, can someone explain why or how it makes a difference?

For me it's just prejudice and that it WAS the standard... ya know the inktomi days. I can't say with any certainty that it makes any difference at all though now... just my prejudice.

Again, I don't think it has any bearing on serps and I certainly wouldn't go back and edit anything for the no spaces.

Hey Cedar City Realtor, I was gonna post that having the keyword in the file names is much more important and the, guess what? I saw in your links that you already do that!

I even went to Google and typed in "Cedar City Real Estae" and 9 out of ten of the first page had the city name in the url or file.

And then I saw you were number one! Can you tell us how you did it :-)?

Guys I am building a new site on a REW templete that will cover much more then just Cedar City. I will still maintain that site but my new focus will be on taking over the Southern Utah Market including St. George, Cedar City, Southern Utah, Brian Head, and a few other main keywords. (Real Estate) on the back of all those keywords.

Anyways the reason I am asking is I look around and different people do it different ways. I went to large markets like Las Vegas, San Diego, Chicago ect and it seemed like every site did it a little different.

I am assuming that is why people are saying it doesnt have much of a bearing.
Anyways if anyone else has some good info on this I would love to hear it.
