Some of you looked at my site while in development. If any of you have time I would like any constructive criticism you would like to offer now that it is mostly finished (we are never finished). Thanks. Wayne

I hate that bar thing that everyone uses. One person asked for it, and then everyone else wanted it. You know the one, "search all homes" it really isn't all that obvious, and not a great call to action. It does look more like a graphic heading than a button.
I do really like the map search, lookin good bro, be sure to let us know how it works out for you.

Nu Home,
That is a REW custom idx. What do you think? Webmaster, I asked for the big button and I like it but I think I might like 4 square buttons across the top (where the search for homes is now). Like the square Find a Home on Colorado Home Helper (That is a really clean looking site) . One for Find a Home - One for Bookmark this site - One for Sell My Home Now! - One for Find New Construction Homes. What do you think? I love the look of my site but I am like you and want a stronger call to action. Just thinking out loud. Any opinions will be appreciated. Wayne

Did your MLS ever mail you those IDX images?
Yours is the first MLS that I have encountered that make you buy a DVD of the images. |

That is kind of funny
![]() Wayne, In order to decide on what to use for call to action, you must first understand your users (Don't look to other site designs you like, and copy theirs) What is it that "Wayne" wants to accomplish with his website. Lets start there ![]()

Aaron,
They supposedly mailed them last Monday but I still have not received them. Morgan, I know what I want to accomplish. To me the question is what is the best way to accomplish it. I want potential clients to search for homes and contact me when they need help or are ready to buy. I also want them to bookmark my site and come back regularly. I want them to contact me when they become interested in selling their home. I want them to think of me as their one stop resource for Real Estate information. All that said - design of the site so that it is asthetically pleasing, has the best idx and mapping system in the area and is easy to navigate are things that I think we have accomplished with this site. Now - what are the best ways to call clients to action? That is really the question I was asking about the buttons! Do you or anyone else have any suggestions along those lines? You said you thought the big button was not a good call to action. What do you suggest in its place? Wayne

Wayne, you are asking the millon dollar question here buddy. I saw your button and I thought it was a good navigation tool. So I made one on my site.
At the end of the day, most users will want to search homes for sale. So a call to action, I think, is not as necessary as a visually easy way for users to find the way to the mls page. Look at Smuck's button. I think it provides an excellent example of what I am talking about. To me this is a visual navigation issue more than a call to action issue. I could be wrong about this, and a call to action is not bad, it just seems to me that they are already in the action process when they arrive and they just need a way to get here. I think there are 2 things to look at: Why are users on my site? and What can I get them to do now that they are on my site? There are lots of answers to the first question so look at the ones that are defined by the purpose of the website...To buy and sell real estate. Some will want to read about real estate - most will only want to read enough to make sure they are in the right place before heading to their target, the mls. So you have to make it easy for them to find it. This is why I think the button is a good idea. Designing a good button is another issue and I suck at it so I'm looking for answers on that one! As for the second question, what do I want them to do now that they are here? The same thing. So maybe a call to action would be good for them, but, I think they are secondary to the people who are already on the site to search. So a call to action/button would be best served for those who are actually reading further down the page. Perhaps the best solution would be to provide the call to action in some form of button - so what language is best???
