I was reading some REW blog comments and I noticed the same avatar/photo appearing on almost everyone's comments. I'm not sure who it is (a guy). What's up?

While we are talking about blog photos here, can someone tell me how to adjust the photo so Bob doesn't look like he put on 50 pounds? I see many "stretched" faces on the blogs and we must be doing something wrong. What's the ideal dimensions?
Thanks! |

What I did, was I took my picture and then opened up my handy free image editing tool - Paint.net Open your image in Paint.Net, go to file > New > change your image size to 60 x 60, then click OK. Go back to file > open > and browse to the image that you want to fit in your REW blog, and the 60x60 canvas. At the top right corner of Paint.Net, you will see a view of opened pictures. One should be blank, and the other should be the image you just opened. Press the "S" button, and click and drag over the area of your picture that you want to go on your REW avatar - try to make it as close to a square as possible. The press control & C to copy that selection. Click on the blank canvas at the top right corner of Paint.Net. Press control & V. It was ask you if you want to expand canvas or keep the canvas size - select keep canvas size. Now your big image is overlaid on the 60 x 60 canvas. Press the "M" key to select a pointer, and click and drag your image on the canvas, making it look as best as possible. This is what your avatar will look like. When you see what you like, go to file > save as > and save your image. Go to your REW blog and upload this image, and it should be perfect with no stretching. NOTE: If you want to put a BIG picture on that tiny 60x60 canvas, you are first going to have to resize the image a bit to more workable dimensions before you highlight what you will copy&paste over to the blank canvas in the instructions above. To do this, open that large picture, go to image > resize. Check the box next to "Maintain aspect ratio", if you want to break it down by pixels or do what I do - and click the radio button next to "By Percentage", and just knock it down by 50% until I think I can highlight a good portion to go on Avatar. I know this is winded, but it's a detailed process! It shouldn't take you too long, but once you do it once, it's easy.
