I'd like to get your opinions on this as it's something that peak my interest as well. What current implementations, APIs, and experience do you guys have with a site such as this?
Do you think it is feasable? What kind of obstacles as agents do you think we'd be have to overcome?

What I find interesting is this: I don't think that these websites (Trulia and Zillow) will ever be able to provide the sold data and mls history that real estate brokers can by subscribing to the feed from their association.
Zillow is based on tax values (hardly accurate in my area) and Trulia is based on listing that agents submit via feeds. I'm not sure how they track sold data, but I doubt its hardly as solid as our MLS databases. The problem is is that our association's MLSs aren't really keeping up with technology; or at least Zillow and Trulia is ahead of it. The idea I had was this: What if brokers across the nation united and funded a international platform for a new international IDX reciprocity type deal. Basically, a platform is built such as Zillow and Trulia, yet this one is fed by the IDX feeds of the brokers. That way, we can develop super accurate sold data, and eventually though a conjoined effort, research better technologies and research what our clients really want. Do they want heat maps or not? Do they want to see the sold history for neighborhoods or not? Do they really just want a SUPER SLICK listing search tool and leave the rest up to us? Ideas? Perhaps what I'm talking about is old, but what is keeping us from doing something such as this?
