I changed the site yesterday and I'm hoping for a top 5 rank for keywords:

kern county appraiser
bakersfield appraiser
appraiser bakersfield
appraiser kern county

Let me know what you think. I just bought Aaron Wall's SEO Book and will be added some more to the site soon.

You need to do alot of work to this site, what are you trying to do with the 3 day turnaround ?

There is no text on the homepage to optimize what you are doing just links.

It is very bland, not very professional, remember don't just build a site for search engines, build it for your clients.

SEO book is very good, gives you a couple of ideas that you may not have thought about before (which I can see you will be able to use with the site), and basically runs over what is good for organic building - which your site needs.

I am also working on the site...I will try to build it more for the client.

The 3 day turnaround is a term used in the appraisal business. Any client (lender) always ask for turnaround time for the appraisal report. That's why I used it but I will add some more content soon.

Matt, welcome to the forums. I agree with what's been said thus far. I have a few comments:

1. I've been saying this a lot lately, but bright blue text on a white background is hard to read for some (including myself), and I would consider changing this.
2. Your keywords meta tag needs some commas separating your keywords.
3. Place the last little bit of css styling that is head tag on your index page into your css file.
4. Begin to think about your customer more than the search engines, if you provide value to your customer, the search engines will find value in your site and rank it accordingly.

Go easy on the all caps in your posts, have fun, and best of luck.

Additionally, I suggest you read through more threads within the Website Reviews forum for further ideas - you'll pick up a lot of things that are applicable to your site as well, and get some fresh new ideas that you may not have considered.

Now that I have updated the site. I have having a problem with the file size.

Here some data explaining the problem. Why is my index page and css image getnorthstar.com the same size over 16k, do I need the css image? How do I delete the css image?

Also, the total page size is 69K too big.....any help I would appreciate.

I think you need to make the page shorter and add some menu buttons to the side. Too much scrolling down to look for information.

Maybe put the rates on another page. It really needs to be condensed on the first page and more pages added with more information.

Also, you have a misspelling:

Your site is almost laid out like a blog. At least that's what it reminds me of at first glance.

Your meta tags look good and you have good key text/phrases. It's a start, but needs tweaking.
