OK, I've read the warnings about not focusing too much on Google PR, and understand that advice. However, since I'm starting with a new site at 0, I can't help it. I want me some PR

So, can anyone simply give me an idea about how quickly/slowly PR's change, so I don't drive myself crazy checking it?

70-90 days sometimes less sometimes more.

Basically I know it is frusterating but you have to wait. LIke Construction World said they update the toolbar PR only every couple months. If you want high PR you need high pr links pointing at you. (Very Basic Explaination)

I'm not a very patient person, so I know the frustration. I can tell you, however, that it will come. The best thing to do is not to focus on the results, but the task at hand.

Thanks for those quick replies. I didn't realize that PR's were updated so infrequently. That at least makes me feel better, and now I won't be checking it numerous times a day!

Several years ago I launched a site on a completely different topic. I'm now re-living that initial phase where there are a million things to do, a presence to establish, connections to make, etc. I'm already finding this addicting.....help!! The good news is that I know what kind of results are possible with hard work. I'm still getting a few sales from that site and I haven't added content or done marketing in ages., because it's linked all over the place through articles and an affiliate program. And that was before blogs!

What kd means is that PR is calculated and updated in real-time (every day). That's one of the reasons you'll see real-time movement in the SERPS (as opposed to when Google actually used to do an "update").

Now ToolBar PR (aka Foolbar PR) is only updated once every 3 or 4 months .... and when the Foolbar PR is pushed, it's an approximation of what Google's actual PR for a page was when the PR compilation was done. In other words, the last toolbar PR push began in January, and took about 6 weeks to complete (most DC's are now updated). The next Toolbar PR update/push will likely begin in mid-April to mid-May .....

I'm learning some good things in this thread. I still thought google did the PR update at intervals; that totally explains why I bounce all over the results for my keyword lately.
