Thumbs down Web Address Advice

I am looking at purchasing a new Domain Name.

considering the following as midtowndirecthomes.com is taken.

midtown-direct-home.com
midtown-direct-homes.com
midtown-directhomes.com
homes-in-nj.com

any other suggestions. I am on the border of 3 counties which I do business in all of them. The Express train line running into the city runs through all 3 of them. I do business in Morristown, Madison, Chatham, Summit, Short Hills, Maplewood, and South Orange so it would be kind of bad for me to use one of those names as part of a domain.

Help, Help, Help.

This one was pretty cool - but try sellmenj.com - a guy gave it to me a while back.

Nice, but looking for something little more relevant.

I think you ought to look for something more brandable... something that when mentioned in conversation might be remembered.

"Hey, you should check out my realtor's site... it's midtown hyphen direct hyphen home dot com"

I'll second that. I've never been a fan of long, hyphenated URLs. They might work for SEO but they're horrible for branding and extremely user-UNfriendly to your customers. Plus, you might be accidentally sending a bunch of your business over to your competitor who doesn't have the hyphens.

As a followup, I think your URL should be the same as your personal brand. If you're The Boyer Team, or Boyer Sells, or JBHomes or JamesBoyer or whatever it is that you're advertising yourself as .... your URL should be the same.

It makes a more solid connection with the customer. James Boyer is my Realtor. His site is JamesBoyer.com and his email is James@JamesBoyer.com. Then just work on getting your brand to the top of the SE's for your KW's.

As an example of how NOT to do it: there was an agent in town named Larry Smith. He owned a local Assist-2-Sell franchise. His website was http://www.vipbuyersandsellersrealty.com/. Yuck.

Steve - I swear I read that URL as SmellMeNJ.com.

I've never even been to Jersey but everybody says it smells. Sounded like a good URL.

HAHA. Kind of like our Pasadena; we call it Stinkadena.

Back on topic though; what do you think of the new suggestions, James?
